Scholarship Programme

The Tim Henman Foundation believes in every child and as a consequence seeks to tailor the opportunities to the needs of that child.

Student Scholarships: Through the Approved Partner Schools students can apply for funding to enable them to pursue an interest either in school or outside school. Their application must have the support of and be channelled through the Head of Department. The Foundation particularly encourages these scholarships to be in the Arts, Science and Engineering and Sports.

Boarding Scholarships: In appropriate circumstances, and based upon satisfactory means testing and home visits, the Foundation will support a student through a boarding school.

"The experience of being in refuge and on the edge of care made me want to take my own life – I never dreamt that I would have the support, care, and opportunity that boarding education now offers. I cannot believe the support and the opportunity my new school offers and the aspirations I now have.”

Teacher Scholarships: Teachers at Approved Partner Schools, who have been inspired by the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Training that they have received though the Foundation’s Programmes, may also be nominated by their school for an award to fund further CPD in either a) their academic subject or b) school leadership.

Alumni Scholarships: We want to be in a position to mentor our alumni over the long-term. The Foundation has therefore developed a scheme through which those who have received our support are encouraged to set up their own community project.

Student Scholarship Award - Summer Shot

This Student applied to her school for a Tim Henman Foundation Student Scholarship to help pay for a course of drama lessons. The student would otherwise have been unable to access such lessons. These lessons were taken out of school time and provided a supportive environment for a clearly talented student.

Student Scholarship Award- Robin Underwood

Through the generous scholarship provided to me by the Tim Henman Foundation I’ve been provided with incredible opportunities to further my skill in horse riding. When my little brother was diagnosed with leukaemia 4 years ago, I had to put horse riding on hold and focus on helping the family and making sure he was okay. In the past year I’ve been working on my jumping and competing in competitions to further my skills. By using the scholarship I’ve been able to ride horses of varying levels of difficulty, make new friends and learn new skills and techniques to help me achieve greater things. In addition, I’ve been educated by equine specialists to improve my knowledge and encourage my aspirations of becoming a veterinary surgeon. I am so grateful for the wonderful opportunity provided to me by the Tim henman foundation and would like to thank them and everyone involved immensely.
